Bowles Womack & Company (BWC) is a specialized full service Houston-based Certified Public Accounting (CPA) firm providing advisory, tax and assurance in private client services to high net worth families and businesses worldwide. We provide tailored service backed by technical expertise to meet client needs for operations in an ever-changing globalized business environment. We advise affluent as well as successful domestic and international individuals, private businesses, entrepreneurs, investors, nonprofit organizations, family offices and trusts. Our main focus is to cultivate a foundational relationship with our clients needs to help produce your envisioned outcomes.

From Then to Now

Bowles Womack & Company, P.C. (BWC) was founded by Carl S. Bowles and Rick Womack (Retired). In 1986, a merger between Phillips & Bowles, P.C. and Womack & Womack, each previously founded in 1979. Prior to founding Phillips & Bowles, P.C., Carl was a CPA in public practice with a local Houston CPA firm. He has been active in various civic and professional organizations, which have continued to be a passion of his throughout his career.

Prior to founding Womack & Womack, Rick served as a financial executive of a New York Stock Exchange listed company. He began his professional career with an international accounting firm, held positions in tax management with a Fortune 500 energy company and was a consultant with a management consulting firm. In December of 2014, one of the founding members, Rick Womack, retired from BWC after a long, fulling career.

In January of 2020, Darwin Scott and Tony Saucedo II have been added as Shareholders to the organization. Since 1986, BWC has been a pillar of the community and will continue to operate with the trust and integrity of its clients. With the recent shareholder additions to BWC, we are confident that our team will continue to care for our clients for the foreseeable future.

 

Our Team

Carl S. Bowles, CPA

Shareholder || Mr. Bowles is the firm’s President and CEO. His client services experience includes business owners and their entities, Real Estate, Contractors, Wholesale and Distribution, as well as investors, professionals and executives. Mr. Bowles has been active in various civic and professional organizations throughout his career. Currently, he is the President of the Board of Directors for Sienna Plantation MUD No. 1 (a master utility district) and is a board member of the Gulf Coast Workforce Development Board. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1972, Mr. Bowles started his career with a Houston CPA firm. In 1979, he co-founded Phillips and Bowles, P.C. In 1986, Mr. Bowles merged Phillips and Bowles, P.C. into Bowles, Womack & Company, P.C.

Darwin Scott, CPA

Shareholder || Mr. Scott joined BWC in 2013 with client responsibilities consisting predominately of providing advisory services of independent oil & gas producers, manufacturers, service providers and distributors. His focus has been on income tax compliance for business and company structures, including, but not limited to, domestic tax planning for both owner/ operator individuals, and strategic tax structures for operating as well as investment businesses. He has a well-rounded understanding of Real Estate activities (both residential and commercial), Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, and the like. Prior to joining BWC, Mr. Scott was focused in Business Taxation (Lead Tax) at the Moss Adams (FKA Hein & Associates). Mr. Scott has years of extensive experience servicing a multitude of clients, managing an array of tax issues, and a rigorous commitment to delivering reliable client service. Mr. Scott attended Baylor University graduating with his BBA in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy with an emphasis in Taxation. He is a certified public accountant licensed in the State of Texas. In his free time, Mr. Scott enjoys traveling with his wife and family as well as attending many different sporting events.

Tony Saucedo II, CPA

Shareholder || Mr. Saucedo joined BWC in 2019. Formerly Ernst & Young, Mr. Saucedo’s client responsibilities consist of providing a variety of advisory services to private closely held organizations of high net worth individuals and families. Within that frame work he focused on planning for transfer of wealth, tax effective company structures, including but not limited to, international tax planning for both inbound and outbound individuals and business, and long-term tax strategize for domestic wealth growth. He has a deep understanding of Real Estate activities (both residential and commercial), Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, and the like. Prior to joining BWC, Mr. Saucedo served the department of Private Client Services with a focus in International Taxation at the Houston office Ernst & Young and RSM US, LLP (FKA Margolis, Phipps, & Wright, P.C.). Mr. Saucedo has years of extensive experience advising a multitude of clients, managing an array of tax issues both foreign and domestic, and a well-developed sense of reliable client service. His focus is to build fundamental relationships to properly support client outcomes. Mr. Saucedo attended the University of Texas at San Antonio graduating with his BBA in Accounting and is bi-lingual in English and Spanish. He is a certified public accountant licensed in the State of Texas. In his free time, Mr. Saucedo enjoys traveling with his wife, many different sport activities, and outdoor adventures.

Margaret L. (Peggy) Hester, CPA

Of Counsel || Peggy's principal professional responsibilities include income tax compliance and consulting, and accounting services to businesses and professionals. She started her public accounting career with Womack & Womack in 1981. Peggy is an Auburn University honors graduate and has done post graduate work at the University of Houston.
